Urinary troubles
Urinary complaints may range from poor control over storage of urine, incomplete and inefficient voiding of urine to obstruction to the flow of urine. The causes vary in men and women.
There are several causes for urinary troubles in the aged.
- Prostratic Hypertrophy
- Damage to the pelvic nerves after surgery.
- Trauma
- Infections
- Underactivity/ Overactivity of detrusor muscle
- Cord compression (lumbosacral) by tumour or intervertebral disc herniation.
- Neurological disorders
- Side effects of certain medications
- Acute delirium
Depending upon the cause, the symptoms will vary and on the basis of the diagnosis proper therapy and rehabilitative measures can be implemented.
