Haemorrhoids
Haemorrhoids or piles are the dilated or swollen blood vessels in and around the anus. Haemorrhoids may be located just inside the anal canal (internal haemorrhoid) or surrounding the opening (external haemorrhoids) they are caused by increase pressure and swelling in the anus.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
The most common symptoms of internal haemorrhoids is bright red bleeding covering the stool. However an internal haemorrhoid may protrude through the anus, becoming swollen and painful especially during a bowel movement.
Symptoms of external haemorrhoids may include painful swelling or a hard lump around the anus. There may be itching or mucus discharge after bowel movements.

A thorough examination is necessary anytime a bleeding last more than couple of days. From symptoms and clinical examination alone a clinician can diagnose piles. Occasionally bleeding can be due to other digestive disorders which includes colorectal cancer.
